A friend wrote me this today:

When I first got started in this business,
Mark Joyner had just announced that he was
retiring from teaching marketing.

On my first project, I somehow managed to
get him to agree to do an interview with
lil' ol me for "12 Week Intensive".

At that time, he told me that he'd retired
from the 'guru business'. However, he still
owed his publisher a couple of books.

no idea at the time that I was Tellman's
"first" attempt at integration marketing.

How incredibly cool.

Anyway, I'm not gonna pretend like I've
had the time to read this book yet. But,
I've read all of Mark's other books - and
I've directly applied integration marketing
numerous times in my own business.

So, I know the power of it and I highly
recommend that you run - don't walk -

When I arrived at this site I wondered what a French
restaurant site had to do with content. Then I started to
click on a few links and quickly realized just how much
thought had gone into this site.

Rather than just throwing up a one or two page site
promoting this French Restaurant, which is what most people
would have done, Stuart really has gone to town.

Along with the 'usual suspects' such as the menu and wine
list, you'll find pages on the history of France, the
French flag, and even information about all of London's
West End theatres. Not just one or two pages, but literally
dozens and dozens.

This is excellent planning as Stuart has recognized that
people won't necessarily search for that restaurant
specifically, or even a French restaurant in London. They
may not have even planned on having a meal, but when they
conduct a search for the theatre they are going to they
could well stumble across the the Mon Plaisir site, because
of the effort Stuart has made to build multiple entry
points, and since the restaurant is so close to the theatre
they may decide to make a pre-show dinner booking.

There's also been some excellent finetuning going on. Many
people will spell the the name of the Aldwych Theatre wrong
and so, as well as a page with the correct spelling, Stuart
has also put up a page with it spelt 'Aldwich'. Great
thinking.

In addition to the great content I felt that this site had
a clean, crisp layout with a recognizably 'French' theme,
without being stereotypical. All in all, a well deserved
second prize winner.

I have to confess that when I first landed on this site my
initial impression was “What a mess!”.

But as this was a content competition and not a design
competition I felt I owed it to Carl to dig a little deeper
– and when I did I was blown away.

All you need to do is go to the site map for this site and
you'll see for yourself what a mammoth amount of content
Carl has put together. And what’s even more amazing is that
he seems to have written most of it himself. Where does he
find the time?

I won't even start to list all the different sections on
the site as it would take forever. If you can think of
anything to do with the 1960s then the chances are that
it’s covered on this site.

I can't wait to do the site makeover that Carl has won
himself on this site as I think from a content perspective
this site has so much to offer, but there’s lots that can
be done to improve the overall design.

So, those are the three winners for the Content
Competition. Congratulations to Belvar, Stuart and Carl,
but also congratulations have to go to all the other
magnificent entries too. Well done to everyone who entered!

Once version 2 is out we'll be having some more contests.

Ideas what to sell online? What to market on the internet?

John Reese did an excellent article about this:

"What The Heck Do I Sell?"

I hear this time and time again...

People tell me they want to start making
money online but they have no idea
what to sell or how they will generate
an income.

The answer to this question, for about
95% of those making money online,
comes down to TWO product types:

1. CONTENT
2. MERCHANDISE

That's pretty much it.

If someone is making money online
they are probably making money from
one of those areas or both.

And there are TWO ways to market
and make money in those areas...

1. AFFILIATE
2. MERCHANT

Many people just want to be an
AFFILIATE so they don't have to deal
with shipping products and what many
feel is "actually running a business."

Hey, what could be better than just
driving traffic and getting paid?

There certainly is good money to be
made as an affiliate, but if you're only
focused on generating income as an
affiliate then you're really missing the
boat...

There's a lot more opportunity in being
a MERCHANT and having your own
affiliate force working hard to send you
traffic.

You've probably heard the analogy
before, would you rather have 100%
of your own efforts or 1% of the efforts
of 100 others?

(Or however that saying goes.) ;-)

In other words, it's a major advantage
online to have a group of marketers
working hard to send traffic to your
site! You don't even have to do any
work... they do all the SEO, PPC campaigns,
etc. You just pay that person a commission
after they send you a paying customer.

It really is the "ultimate" business deal.

But to be a merchant you need to be
selling your own products, right?

NOT EXACTLY.

This is a "myth" that most people
completely misunderstand.

Many marketers think to sell products
themselves they need to invent some
unique "widget" or go and put in months
of work to create some information product.

But let's back up for a moment...

I mentioned there are TWO main product
types being sold online:

1. CONTENT
2. MERCHANDISE

Content would be information products.
From ebooks to DVDs, CDs, manuals,
binders, etc.

But content can also be information freely
publishing on blogs, web sites, or in other
ways that is monetized by advertising.
(i.e. AdSense or ads sold to advertisers.)

So don't just think of 'content' as some
infoproduct that's sold. An active blog with
regular posts that's generating a good amount
of traffic and can be monetized by ads is
generating revenue from CONTENT.

To be in the content business as a
MERCHANT you pretty much DO
need to have your own UNIQUE CONTENT.

There are some minor exceptions to this
such as "resale rights" products but in the
over 15 years I've been marketing online I've
yet to come across anyone making a lot of
money from just selling a resale rights
product.

Hey, just being honest.

Resale rights products CAN make some
decent money for some, but the ones that
usually do well with them are marketers
that are already selling their own unique
infoproducts to a group of customers and
then make additional revenue by offering
the resale rights product "in addition" to
their main products.

I think many newbie marketers fall into the
trap that they are going to get rich if they
just buy the resale rights to some product
they will have the license to sell.

Why doesn't this usually work?

For the same reason almost anything won't
work... IT'S TOO EASY FOR OTHERS TO
REPLICATE.

In other words, when 1,000s of people can
buy the same resale rights, and all they have
to do is put the pre-written, pre-designed
web site online, the market is instantly
SATURATED with way too much competition.

There is MASSIVE opportunity online to
make money in a number of different
ways, but the best opportunities are almost
always those that take more WORK than
others.

Yep, that's the secret.

Okay so we discussed the CONTENT side
a bit. Unless you're going to do what it takes
to create your own in-demend, UNIQUE
content, it's going to be very hard to make
a lot of money.

So what's the other option?

MERCHANDISE.

This is the 'part' of making money online
that I think is the most misunderstood...

There are some companies online selling
their own unique products that they actually
manufacture, but you know what?

This is probably less than 0.1% of the
BILLIONS upon BILLIONS being spent
online for merchandise.

Do you think Amazon.com is actually
'making' the products they sell?

Nope.

How about Buy.com? Or Walmart.com?
Or ToysRUs.com? Or JCPenney.com?
Or BlueNile.com? Or Sears.com?

Nope. Nope. Nope.

Or what about the thousands of smaller
ecommerce stores that are making
their owners a small fortune?

Nope, not them either.

HUH!?!?!?

Yes, it sounds a bit confusing but on the
MERCHANDISE side of ecommerce
the majority of what's being sold is being
sold by MARKETERS and *not* the
actual manufacturer.

And YOU have every right to be one
of these marketers of merchandise
online... Yes, YOU can be the
MERCHANT.

AND...

You don't have to 'make' or 'invent'
a thing. Heck, you don't even have
to stock any inventory if you don't
want to either. It's called "Dropshipping."

You can make a lot of money with
your own ecommerce store selling
merchandise. (Or multiple stores
if you want -- they are easy and
cheap to setup.)

BUT THERE'S *ONE* MAJOR PROBLEM...

Remember how I said the better opportunities
are usually the ones that involve more WORK
than others?

Well, when it comes to making money
from your own ecommerce store, there *IS*
a barrier to entry.

This is the single biggest factor that keeps
so many other people from going into
business with their own successful
ecommerce store.

WHERE THE HECK DO I FIND A REAL
WHOLESALER? (And how do I get
setup to sell their stuff?)

And there it is. The Big Barrier.

THAT is why everyone and their brother
isn't setting up a successful ecommerce
store.

It's the same reason why a small percentage
of eBay sellers make a lot of money week
in and week out while the majority of sellers
STRUGGLE to make any money at all.

If you've ever been surfing eBay and doing
some research into these sellers you've
probably already thought the same thing...

"If I only knew where they got their stuff
I can make money by selling it too!"

And you'd be 100% right.

Too bad it's nearly impossible to find out
where they are getting their merchandise.

And don't even think they are going to tell
you so you can compete with them.

So How Do You Find Real Wholesalers?

You have two options...

1. Spend A Lot Of Your Time And Energy
To Do Heavy-Duty 'Trial and Error' Yourself

2. Just Pay Someone Who Has Done It
For You

Option #2 seems like a no-brainer for sure.

This is the option that companies like Amazon,
Wal Mart, Buy.com, etc. use. They certainly
don't jump from 'wholesaler' to wholesaler
and lose a ton of money only when they
discover the wholesaler they were working
with was a middle man marketing up the
cost of the products -- OR worse, they
end up working with a company that
doesn't actually supply the products
they promised to.

So these companies have research services
they use to find the best deals and
manufacturers and then they just focus
on doing what they do best -- MARKETING.

And this is what YOU need to do if you
want to make a nice living from running
your own successful ecommerce store.

But here's the problem...

Online there's no shortage of people
'claiming' to have "Secret Wholesale" lists.
Look around, you'll see them being sold
everywhere.

And if you're like me, you probably already
bought some and got burned. It happened
to me more than once and I'm not afraid
to admit it.

I GOT SUCKERED.

There are 3 reasons why people
don't buy from you..

1. They can't afford it...

This means they really can't afford what
your selling, no matter how bad they want it.

For A-level marketers, price as an objection
is no excuse, but in some cases, the money
just isn't there

2. They don't believe you...

Let's face it, people are skeptical in
nature, and tons of hype, big claims, and
broken promises has made "buyers beware"...

Your job as a marketer (you're a marketer no
matter what business you are in), is to make
sure people believe what you're saying...

3. They don't want or need what you offer...

from me. I've been a big believer in this
for years. Being an affiliate is a great
business, but if you want the quickest way
to double your business - you need to also
launch your own product.

I talk to affiliates all the time who have
HUGE e-mail lists, or sites that get 100k+

But, they only do affiliate marketing or
things like Google Adsense, when I ask them
what products of their own they have - many

You have to believe that you CAN get whatever results you're after. If your goal is to earn a million dollars, you have to convince yourself that you can do it.

The easiest way to do it is to spend time looking at the successes and millionaires around you. Read about them. Watch videos about them. Listen to others talk about them. Do whatever you have to do to FOCUS on success, and spend time around like-minded people.

Something very interesting happens when you shift your focus in this way. See, there is a universal law that tends to attract to you whatever it is you most focus on. Whatever you focus on most gets drawn to you. Don't ask me how this happens. (Actually, I do know how but explaining it will take several pages. ;-) Just know that it's a proven fact. Like energy attracts like energy.

For example, when you start taking guitar lessons, you will suddenly find that there are so many others around you who are also into guitars. They are drawn to you. You suddenly become aware of like-minded people simply by focusing in a certain direction (in this case, guitars.)

So, start looking for proof around you. Read stories and case studies about others who have already earned a million dollars. Let the stories motivate you and make a believer out of you.

The reality is that whatever it is that you want in your life, you can have it, IF you first believe that you can have it. Believe at the core (not just on the surface level) that it is possible, that it's doable.

If others can do it, you can do it. It's that simple.

Day 1: Develop A 'Success Mindset'

The first day is about finding your center and creating the right mindset! This is extremely important! Without it, you will have a difficult time finding success.

You can have the best tools and strategies at your disposal. But if you have a poor attitude and mindset, those tools and strategies will not do you much good.

If you want to succeed, you have to pull out all the stops and use all that you have. And your mind is the greatest asset you possess.

First of all, realize the simple fact that every problem is really an opportunity in disguise.

If you are brand new to the Internet marketing world, you are extremely fortunate! Because, you have to opportunity here to start from scratch!

You don't have to pick just another job and get stuck in it again. You have a chance to pick something that you actually enjoy doing!

The only way is up from here. And that's what we will focus on. We have an opportunity here to find what we are really passionate about and do that!

I would use this day to clearly outline a few rules for myself to follow, for the rest of the 30 days, and beyond:

I will realize that my failures are in my past. They're gone, old news. I'm not going to dwell on them or beat myself up over them. Today is a new day and I'm going to make a fresh start! I will simply learn from my mistakes and forge on ahead!
I will not worry or panic about my current financial situation, as that will not help matters at all; it will only slow me down. If I run across any problems or challenges, I will spend very little time focusing on the problem while spending most of my time focusing on the solution!
I will also realize and keep reminding myself that every problem, every challenge has within it the seed of a new opportunity! And that's what I will focus on - the opportunities.
I will spend the next 30 days focusing only on success, optimism, solutions, and on moving forward.

I am going to keep the negative people out of my life for at least the next 30 days.
I will remind myself that this is totally doable! There are people out there with much less intellect and resources than me that have created amazing successes on the Internet. If they can do it, I can definitely do it! All I need is to take action, pay attention to where I'm heading and improve accordingly…and persist!

And finally, I will realize that this world really is a place of abundance. Just look around. You've got the entire Internet at your disposal! And as if that were not enough, you've got public libraries full of information and knowledge. It's yours for the taking. Put it to use! Everything you need is there, including money. We just have to put forth the action and claim what's ours.

Every morning, before I do anything else, I will remind myself of the above. My goal is success and that's all I'm going to focus on. Failure is not an option. If anytime during the day, I begin to feel down, I will go through the above list again and get back in touch with what's real.

Every night, before falling asleep, I will visualize myself as having already reached my goals, as clearly and vividly as I can. I will also get in touch with all the feelings that go with that vision and really embody the experience. I will see myself exactly as I want to be, living the life that I want to live, enjoying the things and experiences that I want.

This is my primary focus for the next 30 days.

Please do the above every single day! I cannot stress the importance of it enough.
Remember...

You can have the best tools and strategies at your disposal. But if you have the wrong mindset, those tools and strategies will not do you much good.

Get your mind firmly focused in the right direction and the rest will fall into place!
